‘Signature Gourmet’ and ‘Crofton’ Brands of Personal Blenders Recalled After
About 124,000 personal kitchen blenders sold at stores nationwide have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission after more than a dozen reports of severe cuts surfaced. The cuts occurred when the units unexpectedly turned on while users were handling them.
The blenders were made in China and sold under two brand model names in stores around the United States. The Signature Gourmet brand was imported by East West Distributing Co. of Deerfield, Ill., and sold in Walgreens stores from July 2006 through March 2008 for about $16. The Crofton Personal Blenders were imported by Atico International of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and sold at Aldi stores from May 2007 through March 2008 for about $13.
As of August 2008, the companies have received reports of 14 cuts, including 11 cases which required medical treatment and stitches. Users told company officials that the blenders suddenly turned on while the users were either removing or replacing the blending cup on the unit.

Two Blender Models Involved

The model numbers “SB-19” or “W14A3691” are printed on a label found at the bottom of the base.
Consumers who bought the blenders should stop using the recalled models immediately and call Atico International USA for instructions on returning the product for a full refund.
