Toyota Lexus Recall

Toyota Motor Corporation has announced the recall of millions of Toyota and Lexus automobiles. Toyota warned that the gas pedals in nearly four million Toyota and Lexus vehicles may be defective and can be pinned by floor mats, causing the vehicles to speed out of control. There have been reports of numerous accidents, many of them serious, involving Toyota and Lexus vehicles that “unintentionally” accelerated. California Highway Patrol Officer and Family Killed

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has received many complaints about acceleration issues in many Toyota automobiles, but unfortunately nothing was done to remedy the problem. Unfortunately it took a very tragic event to bring enough attention to the problem that the NHTSA and Toyota Motor Corporation were forced to act.

This tragic event involved the death of an off-duty California Highway Patrol officer and three members of his family when the accelerator in their Lexus ES350 became stuck. An investigation into the cause of the accident determined the floor mats in the vehicle were not the right size for the car and had pinned the accelerator to the floor. A recording of the officer’s 911 call circulated and brought worldwide attention to the problem.

  • 2006-2010 Lexus IS 250 and IS 350

Toyota Prius & Lexus HS 250H Recall

In February 2009, Toyota announced that it was recalling over 400,000 Toyota Prius and Lexus HS 250H vehicles worldwide because of brake problems. While Toyota is only recalling 2010 model year Priuses and Lexus HS 250H cars, complaints about Prius braking issues have dated back to 2005 model vehicles. The recall came after the NHTSA announced that it was opening a formal investigation into braking problems with the 2010 Prius hybrid after receiving 124 complaints about momentary loss of braking ability. Four of the complaints alleged that the braking problems resulted in accidents.

    A Virginia man who claimed that injections of the wrinkle-diminishing Botox left him with brain damage has been awarded $212 million by manufacturer Allergan Inc.
